School Notes ¯

Half Day- Wednesday, Jan. 23rd is a town-wide early dismissal. We will dismiss ALL Grades (AM sessions too) at 12:15p.m. There is bus transportation home. Ext. Day Care is available.

Cori and Protecting God’s Children Workshops- If you are planning on coming into school to speak to the children on Career Day, you must have completed a CORI this year and have taken a Protecting God’s Children workshop. This is an Archdiocese policy that we must follow. If you are coming in on Literacy Day to read to your own child, you do not have to meet the requirements of this policy. The difference is that on Career Day, the volunteer has direct contact with all of the children and not just his/her own. We realize this is often difficult to understand and can be very frustrating, but we are simply trying to adhere to the policies of the Archdiocese of Boston. We appreciate your cooperation with this matter.

February Vacation- Due to low responses, we will not be able to provide Extended Day Care over the February vacation. If you sent in a deposit, it will be returned to you via backpack this week.

Play Practice- Students in grades 6-8 have play practice on Thursday until 5p.m.

Report Cards- Report Cards will be distributed to students in grades 1-8 on January 25th.

Catholic Schools Week- Next week we’ll celebrate Catholic schools. A flyer was emailed home this past weekend which outlines the themes for each day. Each teacher should be sending home a flyer outlining the activities for each individual classroom. We hope you’ll join us in this nation-wide celebration.

Ski Club Reminders- All students are required to wear helmets while skiing. If you don’t own one, you can rent one weekly for $6.00/week. Get your Waterville Valley forms into Mr. D. this week.

Did You Know?-This year, we’ve added music and art enrichment classes to our curriculum for grades 6-8. Once each month, the students meet with either Mrs. McArdle or Mr. Jacobowitz for music and art. Today is a music/art enrichment day. Ask your middle school student about the class he/she participated in.

Tuition Reminder- To be eligible to receive the discounted parishioner tuition rate (usually $1,000 reduction in tuition rate and the availability of the multi-child discount), you must have contributed $400 to Saint Michael Parish from July 1, 2007-April 30, 2008.  Your donation must have been made with your parishioner envelope or by check and could not include your Easter or Christmas offering as they are sent directly to the Archdiocese of Boston.

Grades 2 and 3 - We will be having an "in house" field trip on Friday January 25, 2008. A colonist from Plimoth Plantation will be visiting the classroom and talking about life as an Early American.

Thanks PTO- The faculty and staff wish to express their gratitude for the teacher luncheon that is being provided by the PTO tomorrow, Jan. 23rd.
