School Notes ¯

Vacation- School and Extended Day Care will be closed from April 21-25 for vacation. School will re-open on Monday, April 28th.

 

Play Tickets- The play is “SOLD OUT.” If you are a parent of a student who is performing in the play and did not buy tickets, please call Donna Donahue immediately so we can attempt to make arrangements for your family.

 

Science Fair- The Annual St. Michael School Science Fair (grades 6-8) will be held this Wednesday. All classes will have an opportunity to visit the Science Fair during the school day. The Science Fair will also be open in the evening from 5-6p.m. Awards will be distributed at that time. During the school day, grades 6-8 should wear their SMS polo tops with jeans/pants or shorts and the same for the evening.

 

Running Club News- Student in grades 5-8 have their first meeting of the Running Club on Friday, April 18th. As a reminder, this is the first of two days where the students will travel to the high school and must be picked up at the high school track at 4:30p.m. Students in grades 1-4 will have their first meeting on Monday, April 28th until 4:30p.m (grades 1-4 are always picked up at SMS). On your child’s running club day, he/she may wear gym uniforms with their Running Club t-shirts.

 

2008-09 Tuition- An email regarding new tuition rates will be sent this week. Your family’s non-refundable 10% deposit will be due on May 15th so please plan for ahead.

 

Play Practice- Students in grades 3-8 have play practice on Thursday until 5p.m.

 

Playground Use- As a reminder, the playground is OFF LIMITS before the start of school each day. After school, the playground may be used by students unless it is actively being used by the students in the Extended Day Care program who are being supervised by our school staff.

 

Spanish Extra Help- Mrs. Reardon will be offering extra help for middle school students on Tuesday after school in the computer lab until 4:00p.m.

 

Art Notes ¯

Student Art Show - Registration forms are now available for the upcoming student art show. Entries must be submitted by April 29!  You can find these forms on our website. One was also attached with the last Trumpet email. Hardcopy forms are available at the front desk and art room door. Don't miss this opportunity!

 

The Middle School Art Club will be meeting this Tuesday, directly after school until 4:30. Bring your ideas for creating props for the play as well as any ideas for an art museum field trip in May.

Thank You! - The PTO wishes to sincerely thank everyone who participated in The Night At The Disco Auction Event. Your donations of time, talent and goods are what made this event a HUGE SUCCESS. You have helped us raise more than $20,000! 
Final numbers are forth-coming.  

 

Auction Item Pick-Up – Auction items may be picked up on Tuesday, April 15th, at school from 9a.m. until 4p.m.

Second Grade Brownie Troop #298:  Our next meeting is this Friday, April 18th from 3:15 to 4:30 in the Main Street Atrium.  We will start earning the Animals Try-It.  Remember to bring a snack and wear your sash!  See you there!

 

Kindergarten Daisy Troop #6415:  Our next meeting is Friday, May 9th from 3:15 to 4:30 in the Main Street Atrium.  Please remember to wear your Daisy smock and bring a snack.  See you there!

Protecting God’s Children Workshops- Here are the upcoming PGC workshops in our area: St. Patrick Parish in Lawrence: May 3rd at 10a.m. (call 978-683-9416 to register).

 

State of the Art Tools for an Extraordinary Marriage- Join us at the Marriage Enrichment Seminar. It is educational and non-threatening (and even fun)! The content of the seminar will include highly acclaimed communication skills program Prevention and Relationship Enhancement Program (www.prepine.com) developed out of the University of Denver, as well as an introduction to some of the beautiful teachings of the Church on marriage and family life. The seminar is at St. William Parish, Tewksbury; May 3 (part 1) and May 10 (part 2) 5:00-9:00p.m. Cost is $85/couple, includes light meal and materials. Spring Cleaning During April Vacation - Second Grade Brownie Troop #298 is earning the Animals Try-It and will be visiting the MSPCA/Nevins Farm in early May. They will be collecting old towels, blankets and comforters for the animals there. If you have any donations please drop them off in the box by Donna Donahue’s desk the week after April vacation. Thanks from the Brownies!

 

Ed Pedi Photography - First Communion Portrait Fund Raiser to benefit St. Michael School Programs runs from March 1 through May 31st.  Ed will donate $25 from the session fee to St. Michael school programs and each participating family receives one complimentary 5 x 7 portrait. The sacred celebration of First Holy Communion is one of the single most important events to occur in a young child’s life. Don’t let this special day pass by without preserving a timeless portrait memory. Ed encourages you to bring along any special family heirlooms, rosary beads, or prayer book to personalize your child’s portrait.
