Lenten Service Projects- During the Lenten Season, our school will be accepting donations of clothing for St. Vincent DePaul. In addition, we’ll be distributing the Lenten Rice Bowls this week and ask that your family pray the Lenten prayer each night and participate in this wonderful project. Lent is a time for praying, fasting and giving alms. Your children will learn about Lent in their classrooms, they’ll attend Penance service and the Stations of the Cross. We encourage families to make every effort to attend weekend masses. The 9a.m. Mass on Sunday is a Children’s Mass that everyone enjoys!

 

Protecting God’s Children Workshops- Here are the upcoming PGC workshops in our area: St. Patrick Parish in Lawrence: March 8th at 10a.m. or May 3rd at 10a.m. (call 978-683-9416 to register).

 

Play Practice- Students in grades 3-5 have play practice on Tuesday until 4:30p.m. Students in grades 6-8 (only those in the 2nd half of the play should attend) have play practice on Wednesday until 4:30p.m. Please note the 4:30 dismissal time on both days this week. Students not picked up at that time will be sent to Ext. Day Care and parents will be billed. Please note that the Feb. 26 rehearsal for grade 3 has been cancelled. Grade 3 should come on Feb. 27th with grades 4 & 5 until 4:30p.m. (note change of time).

 

Kurzweil Club- Students who are available are needed to help edit documents on Thursday, February 14.  Come to the computer lab when you get in (the lab opens at 8am)..

 

Masses During Lent- The students in grades 1-8 will attend 9:15 Friday mass more frequently during the season of Lent. The schedule is as follows: Grades 5-8 Feb. 29. Grades 1-4 Feb. 15 and March 14. All grades will attend mass on March 7. Grades 1-4 will attend mass this Friday. Parents are welcome and encouraged to attend.

 

Grade 8 News- Students in grade 8 will attend their 8th grade retreat this Thursday and Friday. All permission slips should be passed in by tomorrow. Students should be dropped off at St. Basil’s in Methuen on Thursday and must be picked up on Friday. Grade 8 parents are reminded that the 2nd installment of the Graduation Fee is due by March 14th.

 

Vacation- School will be closed over February vacation. Ext. Day Care will not be in session. We’ll return to school on Monday, February 25th.

 

Morning Arrival- Students who arrive to school prior to 8:30a.m. will be sent to Ext. Day Care unless they are going to a teacher for extra help or to open library/computer days (gr. 5-8). We must have all children supervised by adults which means they must attend Ext. Day Care. Parents are billed for a half hour even if their child only attends for 10 minutes ($3.00).

 

PTO Parents- There are several plates, bowls, etc. left over from the teacher luncheon.

The Book Fair will be held February 26th through February 28th. Watch the backpacks for the date and time that your child will attend.  Summer reading lists and teachers' wish lists will be available at the fair.

 

Spring Event/Auction - Mark April 12th in your calendar for dinner, dancing and music at Salvatore's in Lawrence. Plus, participate in our live auction that evening. It's sure to be lots of fun! Visit our current auction site at www.sms-auction.cmarket.com    

 

Ladies’ Choice Dance - The 2008 Ladies Choice Dance will be held on Friday, February 29th from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. in the school gym. Tickets for the event will be $8 per person, maximum of $24 per family. The tickets are available to purchase from Mrs. Donahue at the front desk or via backpack to Maureen Marshall c/o Ryan Marshall Grade 3A. Please make all checks payable to St. Michael School PTO.   

 

Help Needed - Calling all room moms, interested volunteers, dads – EVERYONE –The PTO needs your help. We are working diligently to secure items for our upcoming auction and we are hoping to get more help.  Please join us for an informational gathering on Thursday, February 14th at 10:30 a.m. in the Main St. Atrium.  Help us make this our most successful event this year !  Can't make it? Parish Notes ¯

Wednesday’s Walk with the Lord - Come join our Parish Mission on Wednesday evenings during Lent at 7:00 p.m. in the church.  This Wednesday, February 13, we will be presenting "Journey to the Cross" a passion play by Olivia Woodford, told through the eyes of the women who walked with Jesus. Babysitting is available in the Pastoral Center through Youth Ministry. Call the Pastoral Center to reserve your spot.

 

Friday’s Footsteps with Jesus - Join us for Stations of the Cross at 7:00 p.m. on Fridays during Lent in the church. Each week a different ministry will lead the stations. Come experience God's great love for us as we walk with Jesus in the passion.

 

Scouts Notes ¯

Second Grade Brownie Troop #298 - Our next meeting is this Friday, February 15th from 3:15 to 4:30 in the Main Street Atrium. We will begin working on the “Careers” Try-It.  Remember to bring a snack and wear your sash!  See you there!

 

Kindergarten Daisy Troop #6415 - Our next meeting is Friday, February 29th from 3:15 to 4:30 in the Parish Hall. Please remember to bring a snack and wear your Daisy smock!  See you there!

North Andover Booster Club Little League - On-line registration is now open for the 2008 baseball season at www.nayouthbaseball.org.  Players between the ages of 5 and 16 as of April 30, 2008 are eligible.  Our new web site offers fast, convenient, and secure registration for both new and returning players.
