Parking Lot Procedures
Morning
Drop-Off Process:
 |
Parents are allowed to use the active
drop-off lane which is in the right-hand side of the parking lot. As soon as
your car reaches the sidewalk, your child should exit from the right side
of your vehicle and walk on the sidewalk until he/she enters the play area
(coned in). If there is a line of cars along the sidewalk,
you may not wait until your car
reaches the cones to drop off. You may not get out of your car to
assist your child, give them one
more kiss goodbye or give them lunch/snack money. If you need to do any of
these things or see your child safely enter the coned in area, please park and
walk him/her to that area. The active drop off lane is for the immediate
off-loading of students onto the very long, safe sidewalk. Cars
SHOULD NOT need to pass on the left if all cars drop and go as described
above. |
 |
Parents are allowed
to park and safely walk their children into the play area (coned). Parents
MUST hold their child's hand and keep their child with them at all times until
reaching the play area. Parents walking students should not block the flow of
traffic in the travel lanes. Please walk to the sides of the travel lanes and
take a firm hold of your child's hand. Mr. Vinci, our school custodian, is on
duty as a crossing guard for families to cross from the parking area to
the play area. Please wait until he tells you that it is safe to cross. |
 |
At
8:50 children need to line up
with their classes. Please allow the students to do this independently. It is
very chaotic if parents are in the line with their children. It causes
much disruption and transition problems. |
Noon-Pick-Up
&
Drop-Off Process:
 |
When picking up from the morning session or
dropping off for the afternoon session, parents should utilize the
parking lot on Main Street. Please do not pull into the Maple Ave. lot or park
in Maple Ave. |
 |
The afternoon session students will meet at
the far end of the school (Maple Ave.). A teacher will open the doors
and be on-duty at 12:20p.m. The doors will not open until that time. |
After-school Pick-Up Process:
 |
Only parents of students in grades Nursery
through grade 5 are permitted to park in the school parking lot. Students in
grades 6-8 must cross Main Street (a staff member is stationed there) and meet
their parents in the church parking lot. Our lot is simply not large enough
for all of our students. Students in grades 6-8 are old enough to cross
over Main Street, with our staff supervision, to meet their parents. If you
have a nursery-grade 5 student and a
grade 6-8 student, you are allowed to park in the school parking lot. When
parking at the church remember not to park in handicapped spots.
|
 |
The school parking lot will
CLOSE at
3:05 or as soon as it is filled. Cars may not park in the fire lane.
They must be in actual parking spaces.
Parents who park in the lot need to back into the parking spaces so they can
easily pull out of the spaces when the lot opens. Mr. Vinci will put up yellow
chains to prevent cars from entering or exiting. The parking lot will
OPEN at 3:15.
When going to the cars, parents MUST hold their child's hand. When the parking
lot opens, all cars must slowly and safely drive out of the
schoolyard through the EXIT. There will be
NO EXCEPTIONS to the opening and closing times or rules. Therefore, if
you know your child has an appointment or activity that begins at 3:30, you'll
need to park across the street at the church and walk over to the
school to pick up your child (N-gr.5). |
 |
Parents MAY NOT park on Maple Avenue or in
the teacher's parking lot at any time. This is the active pick-up area
for the buses. |
Major
Reminders:
During both the
morning and afternoon, parents are reminded that they should be traveling at a
very slow speed (5mph) in the parking lot. Parents SHOULD NOT talk on their cell
phones while traveling in the parking lot.
EVERY parent must take FULL RESPONSIBILITY
for the safety of ALL of the children.
