Aikido
Aikido is a Japanese martial art designed to immobilize an attacker peacefully by using throws or hold downs. Aikido aims to resolve conflict without increasing aggression or violence. Students are taught self-defense techniques that are designed to safely control an attacker. Through martial arts practice, students increase their strength and physical well-being. More importantly, aikido helps students gain self-confidence and discipline.

Methuen Aikido will be conducting a martial arts self defense program at St. Michael School for students in grades K-5.

Aikido practice is an excellent form of physical exercise. The training improves strength, stamina, and flexibility. Improved fitness is not the only benefit of Aikido however. The training helps build self-confidence and encourages students to respect themselves and others.
