School is Closed- School is closed for the summer. We are in and out of the office to check messages but will be unable to access the school due to work being completed between June 23^rd and July 1^st. If you need to contact us, please email us at st-michael@comcast.net. We won’t have access to phone messages until after July 1^st.

Calendar Update- November 12^th will be a No School day due to a follow-up workshop for the teachers. They attended a 2-day workshop on June 18 & 19 on a new writing program that the local schools hope to implement in the upcoming year. November 11^th is also a no school day due to Veteran’s Day. This will be a 4-day weekend for our families. Thank you for your cooperation.

Reading Program- We hope your child has begun his/her summer reading challenge! Don’t forget about the program offered at Borders. Read 10 books and get a free book!  Check out our Summer Info page for details!

Summer Work- Your child should have received a packet of summer work. We’ll be updating the website shortly to include summer work, supply lists and the reading program.  Check out our Summer Info page for details!

PTO Student Directory- During the summer months so that it can be available in September.  Please review your information in the current Student Directory and if you have any changes to the Name/Address/Phone Number(s)/Email(s) sections, please reply to this email with your update. You can access the Student Directory via the Parent Portal on the SMS website. 

Have you noticed the newest addition to our parking lot area?  The "Got Books" container will be used as a drop-off site for any used and unwanted books, videos, DVD's, CD's and audio books.  The sky's the limit to how much money we can raise using the book donation drop-off container.   Got Books is a for-profit fundraiser and used book seller whose primary mission is to support local communities through books.  Got Books has a focus on reuse and works to keep books out of the waste stream.  Even donating a single book means it will find a new new reader and that it is one less book that will end up in the trash.  Have fun with your children imagining where their book might end up. No book ever gets thrown out or goes to waste!

Other Recycling Programs: 

FUNDING FACTORY:  Educational Technology and Conservation Exchange Program provides an opportunity to save empty laser and inkjet cartridges and old cell phones that can be exchanged for free hardware and software technology products.  A drop off location has been set up in the lobby of the school.  Remember that the company you work for can help us recycle, too.  Pick up is at their place of business.  For more information check out their web site www.fundingfactory.com - Saint Michael's ID is 11199

PAPER RETREIVER: 

You can recycle paper at our school 7 days a week. And we earn money for paper dropped off at our green and yellow Abitibi Paper Retriever® bin. This is an easy way for you to recycle your paper every week and help us raise money for projects that directly benefit the students. Please remember to bring your paper and drop it in the Abitibi Paper Retriever® bin. This bin is free to use, just bring us your paper!  We accept: Newspaper, Magazines, Shopping Catalogs, Office and School Papers.  Please add recycling to your errand route and bring your paper by once a week – help your school and the environment! Since the news of Connor’s passing, many parents, friends and staff have asked the very same question….why? With no answers, everyone has asked what they can do and how they can help. We are pleased to be able to announce that we have found a way to honor this very special young man for years to come. It is with great pride and much sorrow that we announce that we dedicated our playground in memory of Connor and have started a scholarship fund in his name. We ask that you keep Connor in your hearts, thoughts and prayers. He was a vibrant, intelligent, adorable young man who battled and beat leukemia twice in his short life. He will forever be part of each one of us at St. Michael School.
