Revised August 2006

Registration Policy

(Lottery registration will be held in January each year, registration forms will be collected in December)

St. Michael School is for students in the parish.  Priority is given to children who have successfully completed our Pre-Kindergarten Program.  Brothers and sisters of students in attendance are considered next.  The children of families registered at St. Michael Parish and who have been participating in the Offertory Program for at least six months are admitted next.

The order of registration is as follows:

bulletFamilies currently attending the Saint Michael Pre-Kindergarten and/or Kindergarten programs will have their names drawn during the first week of the lottery registration. This placement lottery will guarantee their seat for the following year.
bulletFamilies with siblings* currently attending Saint Michael School who are interested in Nursery or Pre-Kindergarten will have their names drawn for placement during the second week of the lottery registration.
bulletFamilies who have been registered for at least six (6) months and participate in the Offertory Awareness Program at Saint Michael Parish who are interested in Nursery and Pre-Kindergarten will have their names drawn during the third week of the lottery registration for any available seats. If no seats are available, a waiting list will be established.
bulletAll other families of children entering Nursery and Pre-Kindergarten will have their names drawn during the fourth week of the lottery registration for any available seats. If no seats are available, a waiting list will be established.
bulletFamilies of children interested Kindergarten through Grade 8 may register at any time during the year.

*Please be aware that to be considered a sibling, both children must attend St. Michael School in the fall.  If an older child is withdrawn, the younger sibling's seat may be taken by a valid sibling on the waiting list.

Names can be placed on a waiting list when all available seats are full.  Entrance into St. Michael School is based on good academic and conduct standings.  This includes teacher recommendation and St. Michael Academic Testing.  The waiting list is a management tool that allows us to store names and phone numbers of interested students, while eliminating the need for re-registration for students interested in Pre-Kindergarten through grade 8.

If you are registering your child for the first time, don’t forget to bring a copy of your child’s baptism and birth certificate as well as a Mass. Health Form (forms available in the office).

There is a one time, non-refundable $200 registration fee for new families registering at St. Michael School. This fee is only required when a seat has been made available for your child.

All tuition must be current in order to register for the following school year.

Nursery children must be three years old by September 1 and toilet trained. The Nursery school program is not a feeder program to the Pre-Kindergarten program. Families with older siblings attending St. Michael School will be given first priority for available Pre-K seats for the following year. If seats are available, parish families with students currently attending Nursery school will be given an opportunity to register next.

Pre-Kindergarten children must be four years old by September 1. Please indicate on the registration form whether you wish to register your child for mornings or afternoons and the number of days s/he plans to attend.

Kindergarten children must be five years old by September 1. All students entering must complete a Kindergarten screening at St. Michael School.

If you have any questions or concerns, never hesitate to call the school office at 686-1862.

Registration policy is subject to change without notice.
